Peters' Research Group

The Peters Research Group develops tools to assess and manage contaminants in occupational and environmental settings. We focus on particulate matter with the development of new samplers, such as the nanoparticle respiratory deposition (NRD) sampler. The NRD sampler collects nanoparticles with an efficiency like that of the respiratory tract. We also design novel wireless sensor networks to assess multiple particle, gas, vapor, and noise hazards in real-time at many locations in the workplace. We have deployed these networks for up to 8 months in heavy-vehicle manufacturing facilities. We visualize collected data in many ways to rapidly disseminate trends and issues with workplace hazards.
