Prof. Peters teaches Control of Occupational Hazards (OEH:6440). In this course, students apply concepts from physical sciences to control occupational hazards that range from dusts, to mists, to vapors. Strategies, management issues, personal protective equipment, and implementation skills are discussed. In-depth instruction on design of ventilation systems with hands on laboratory activities are provided. Topics cover the physics of air movement and the fundamentals of workplace ventilation, including: airflow measurement, dilution ventilation, local exhaust ventilation, hood design, fan selection, replacement air, aerosol and gas control, personal protective equipment, and control economics.
